WTF about that lady whose dad kept her in the basement for 24 years?!?!?!?! AND HAD 6 (7, but one died) KIDS WITH HER, WITHOUT HER MOTHER KNOWING?!?!?!?! Read the story, it is fascinating and horrifying at the same time.

my new new computer has made me a posting fool.

does gummy food go bad? i just found a bag of gummy worms, and my favorite food in the world is gummy food, but i feel like they have been here for a while...

if i get sick, someone please tell the doctors that it was probably gummy poisoning.

SOOOOO...of course they released the newer more powerful version of my computer like, i dunno, ten minutes after i left the store yesterday. thankfully, my favoritist computer knowing type person, john, emailed me this morning to inform me of this, so i called the store and here i am in front of my new, new computer.

oy. the tech-geek part of me is winding down a little. of course i had already uploaded stuff and bookmarked things, but i got to the store late and kind of didn't want to bother getting everything moved over. so i need to put all my music back and then figure out which links i had bookmarked. but whatever. now i have a new new computer. this bad-boy is fast too!

but no more computers for me, for a while i hope!

so, my good old faithful laptop kicked the bucket on friday...i brought her in to the genius bar today (well, yesterday, but don't get me started...it turns out that i am impatient...who knew? it was only worsened when i mentioned to the dude that if i had no computer, i had no access to the internet and was thusly unable to make an appointment online. what did he do? pulled out his iPhone. as in "if you had an iPhone, you could have made an appointment. fucker.)
ANYWAY...today i went in and the genius that helped me actually went to school with me at the art institute. really nice guy. and when he told me my hard drive was probably fried, and i mentioned that i would probably have to get an iMac, he totally vouched for me and said i was still a student.
and THEN the guy who came to help me pick out my iMac was TOTALLY flirting, i think. somehow i mentioned i had just been to costa rica, and it turned out he has been to the volcano we went to! and even climbed it! so he FURTHER vouched for me being a student (i had no ID on me nor did i have a class schedule...since i have already graduated...) and i got the discount on my BRAND NEW IMAC!
it is HUGE!

it is the 24 inch, 2.8GHz one. it is bigger then my basement.
so, now i am about to start reloading some of my shit, trying to remember websites i had linked and such.
i love this fucking machine. it needs a name.

holy crap, i am hungry. like huuunnnnngggggry. and i am going to brunch at like noon-30, so i don't really want to eat too much right now. but i might have to have some cheese or something.

like, starving-hungry. even the dog biscuits look a little good.

we got back last night, kinda late. i am residually tired, plus i got hit with a case of the funk today at work when i realized there wasn't a pool or beach within 20 feet of me...but the trip was awesome, and the pictures will be coming soon (like 900 of them). after i catch up on some sleep.

the idol: well, i actually think that kind of stinks a little.

anyway, spring is here! it is rainy AND warm! finally!! i think it must have been my constant whining that made it come. although there is some sort of crazy wind advisory on for tomorrow. it does kind of feel like it could be all hurricane like.

i have been itching to be arty. every day i think i get a little closer to pulling out the paint. plus, we need some wall hangings.

and the dogs are getting along! at least most of the time. they either play (kind of hard and scary, but i guess it's cool) or sleep or chew on rawhide. i think in a few more weeks, they might even be really calm and chill with each other. and when i get home, dahlia runs upstairs with me to get dex from the crate, and i think if she hated him, she would just stay downstairs. every once in a while i do feel the need to step in when they play a little rough, but again, i get the feeling it is pretty normal.

oy. i have a headache. rock.

i love LISTVERSE for exactly this reason: 10 modern cases of feral children. what? seriously? that is some nutty shit right there.

the dogs are only "fighting" here and there, although it seems to be happening a bunch, the intensity is DEFINITELY down, and last night i left them alone to go get bryan from the metro and they weren't dead when i got back, so YAY progress! i still need to get a water bottle to spray them with, although i am having some luck with waving around a dish towel like a crazed asshole. i think i might just be really tired, other wise i would be all good. they rock. so does bryan. and also, i kind of want my mom to come for an extra visit to stay with the dogs. it is weird the things exhaustion does to you.

we have a trainer coming on wednesday to "assess" them (i guess to see how much training they need) so that should be interesting. Dex has only had 3 accidents in the house (well, four...one was a poop, at least i think it was his, or else Dahlia needs to not eat so much...gross, and two of the pees were in the morning because i didn't haul ass downstairs fast enough...he gets a slight pass on the first two because he was in a new place with new rules) but overall, i think he is pretty well housebroken. and there is NO food aggression and only a slight amount of "toy jealousy" with them, which were really, my only worries. i really think you can get over all the other obsticles when it comes to dogs getting along if they can eat their own food and play with their own toys.

wow. all i talk about are dogs! i can't wait for a month or so to go by and they are a *little* bit calmer. and i have already noticed some changes in Dahlia in terms of not pooping in the house and getting more tired in the evenings.

other things:

top 12 in idol is going to be good. although i do think some of the girls got sent home too early, it was a tough choice because there were more then 6 girls overall who were pretty good.

LOST still blows my mind, pretty much weekly. i just love it. i don't care what other people think, i love everything they do on that show. i trust the process entirely.

i need to keep up the photoblog, new dog or not.

when the fuck is it going to stop raining? if this is because of global warming, i might have to get on board with all that environment crap.

in that same token, still no flooding in the basement. so yay for that. i guess if there wasn't this much rain, we would have to wait and worry about our new "anti-flooding your basement and ruining your shit" system.

i say this a lot, but i really need to start painting. i also need to clean my basement, since it still has moving boxes. and i think it would be nice to have a clean basement.

ok, i am going to go and wake bryan up with the dogs. good times.

or Dex for short! so far the two dogs are getting along, although Dahlia keeps staking her claim, but dex is pretty good at putting up with her!





he is a cocker mixed with maybe a hound of some sort and maybe even a tiny bit of golden...but we aren't sure about that, it might just be the haircut.

(also, he has what look like fur booties on because he was very matted and they shaved everything but his feet. we will probably be getting that done soon.)

i hate sharks. i can't even muster up a "it is a shame they are dwindling" cause blech. evil.

first of all, i just about LOVE that little dude on the idol. seriously. i teared up a little. i think he might win. if i could, i would put him in 3 of the top 6 spots for the guys.

for the love of pete, when is it going to be sunny and warm again?

i tried making bryan and myself dinner in the slow-cooker, but pre-coffee, i must have not realized that i was setting it on high, which meant when i got home, there were four pieces of (surprisingly still delicious) chicken in a charred tomato sauce with burnt capers and onions. i ROCK before i have coffee. it is good times.

i have been rereading a lot of books that i read when i was a kid lately, no doubt inspired by my recent stay at casa el taylor back in marion, ma. i read some good books when i was a kid! some william sleater (singularity, interstellar pig), some christopher pike, and a bunch of other stuff. so now i am on this whole 6th-10th grade reading level kick. i shall keep you all updated. the cool thing is that they only take me about an evening or two to read. traditionally i have a stack of comics by my bed, but that absolutely irritates bryan, so i think he will be appreciative of my reading non-picture books for a little while. not that my comics have no value.

oy. time for bed.

i think i was one of five people to watch the oscars. i thought it was pretty good, although...i saw NONE of the movies that were featured in any category! i have fallen behind. although i think it is just that i would rather watch them at home.

i am totally watching some show about lake monsters. it is pretty interesting.

i finally watched SNL from this weekend. i love me some Tina Fey. i want to be her friend.

OH, i lied. i got more! things i loved about the oscars:
i loved that the chick that won (with the dude) for best song got to come back and make a speech!
i thought this was the best dressed oscars in a while.
i liked that nicole kidman looked relatively human.
i loved, LOVED, javier bardem.

although i can't believe they left out some folks in the "died this year" section...that kind of bothered me a little.

and also, i am adding that i loved what tina fey said about hillary.

and NOW, i am done. i have to go watch more about lake monsters.

i am ready for spring to spring.

not too much going on, i am keeping up pretty well with my picture blog (i will never get sick of pimping that thing out). i am even a few days ahead. but i took a bunch of pictures of marion, where i grew up.

i also had a SLAMMING cold last week. i am just now almost all the way over it. hopefully i won't get another one until next year. i think that is what made my 3.5 hour commute suck even harder then it would have normally.

what else, what else. dahlia got a haircut while i was gone (she was a little matted under her legs) and now she is cold. so i bought her a sweater. i am totally one of THOSE people. but she loves it. and i must say, she looks pretty smoking in it. all the boy dogs will love her.

anyway, like i said, i cannot wait for spring. i am just sick of it being cold and crappy. and i want to hang out in my yard! and read outside! i am absolutely a spring/early summer kind of guy. plus, i love when their is a hint of warm in the air, and you kind of see all of these people in the city who look like they emerged from some sort of cocoon. it is just cool. and cocoon is a weird word. i actually had to look up the spelling just now.

dinner tonight with some friends, some house cleaning today, and tomorrow, nothing but relaxing.

3.5...also known as...the number of hours it took me to drive home from work yesterday. and i thought i missed the metro a few months ago...in theory it is a 25 minute drive.

so, yay, back! the funeral was nice, i had a blast at my friends party, i am a little sick (i was a pallbearer, and it rained...) but i have some pics to post at some point. i miss home (mass, not necessarily my home, but the state. although i had a decent time with my mom, which is always nice. maybe i handle her better in her court, as opposed to here, in my court...), and for the first time in a long time, thought i could see myself moving back to new england later in life. i even went to the beach and took some pics, which will show up on my picture blog, i am sure. but it is nice to be home with bryan and dahlia. bryan is usually the one to go out of town, so it was a little odd to be the one coming home from a trip.

OH, i am also really bummed about polaroid going out of business. i LOVE my instant camera. i am going to have to buy a bunch of film.

and also, i am rooting for a BUNCH of people on Idol this year. i am VERY happy with the top 24 (which was leaked early) and a lot of my favorites have made it. and it seems like a pretty varied bunch, with a lot of strong talent this year. they stepped up the game since everyone seemed to hate last years competition.
